Moderation and Balance

In addition to nutrition, the concept of moderation applies to many aspects of life. Undoubtedly there are applications of the concept in our professional lives. It comes down to finding balance among alternatives.

For example, the same commitment required to achieve moderation of carbohydrates is applicable to finding balance in leadership style. Most of us tend toward a particular style (servant, authoritarian, participative, transformative, transactional, etc.). Different situations call for us to flex between styles to achieve the best outcome for the long-term health of those working in our organizations, those served by our organizations, for the organizations themselves, and for us.
